The Meridian Water project will deliver 10,000 homes over 25 years in the London Borough of Enfield.
The site, currently home to a large furniture supplier, a supermarket and remnants of light industry, will be transformed by the construction of a new station (provisioned for Crossrail 2) and new infrastructure. The new homes will begin to be occupied by end of the decade.
Periscope is working on the landscape vision and design code of the later phases of the project. We have walked and cycled the length of the Lea valley in Enfield and Hackney, cataloguing remnants of industry, resurgent ecology and the surreal beauty of the reservoirs. These records will help to inform the landscape of Meridian Water – taking the extant landscape heritage and ensuring it is amplified rather than sanitised by regeneration.
